Leesys participated in Saxony's largest youth solidarity campaign, "Genial Sozial", again this year. As a result, for one day Leesys was employer for the participating students.
As well as approximately 32,000 students from the entire Saxony state, Michelle Vongehr, a high school student from Paunsdorf and Peter Kündiger, a seventh grader from Wiederitzsch took part in the campaign and for one day they exchanged their school books for a job in the production area at Leesys.
The money earned not only benefits social projects in Saxony, but also initiatives worldwide. In the past year, the girls and boys in Saxony together raised a total of 670,000 Euros. Incidentally, the students themselves decide where the money goes. A jury of delegates from the 275 participating schools discusses how to spend the money. Last year, for example, important projects have been awarded, like a drinking water and afforestation project in the Philippines and a project in Naqchu province / Tibet to improve the medical care of nomads in the Tibetan highlands.
Michelle and Peter liked to work for Leesys and to contribute for one day the whole organization, gain insight into the Electronic Manufacturing Services, and spend money on a good cause. And who knows, maybe one day we will see you again as a trainee with us.
