Leesys has announced the opening of a new site in Lithuania. The production satellite in Lithuania will focus on the processes of repair, maintenance and overhaul (RMO centre). The location in Leipzig will further expand its processes for the development and production of electronic assemblies and systems, the testing and testing of assemblies, and the supply of electronics and plastics from a single source. This should correspond to the vision of the Leesys: "Secure hardware for secure communication".
According to Dr. Arnd Karden, CEO Leesys, choosing the right location was a very thought-out process. The different countries were evaluated according to different factors regarding labor market conditions, geographic and infrastructural issues as well as some general parameters such as the Ease of Doing Business Index.
"We visited all the top three countries and Lithuania was 100 percent convincing, especially the level of skilled workers, the openness to technical progress, the adequate infrastructure and - last but not least - the excellent support from the investment agency Invest Lithuania were the relevant factors for choosing Lithuania for the new location, "says Dr. Arnd Karden.
"The current major trends in the automotive industry - automated driving, electrification and networking - are significantly increasing the demand for vehicle electronics, with newcomers such as Leesys producing electronic components for the industry forming a strong automotive cluster that ensures that traditionally strong capabilities are used to meet the needs of the modern Lithuanian economy", says Mantas Katinas, Managing Director of Invest Lithuania.
For its activities in Lithuania, Leesys has chosen Panevezys Free Economic Zone (PFEZ), which offers conditions that are considered by Leesys to be the most suitable for the planned development phase.
"With Easy Start, PFEZ offered a comprehensive service solution that would allow the investor to start operating immediately after the contract was signed, which was one of the main reasons for Leesys' decision to invest in rented rooms in Lithuania", says Rokas Krivonis, Director of FEZ Panevežys.
To secure the competitive advantage, Leesys, as in Germany, plans to cooperate with universities in Lithuania.
